The Challenge
Due to the high-frequency use of the auditorium, the existing Camatic Clarity seating had begun to show clear signs of wear. Fabric deterioration, ageing foam, and worn aisle detailing were impacting both comfort and the overall visual standard of the space.
Assessment & Strategy
Following consultation with the school, a detailed on-site review was conducted by OVS Managing Director Mark Jeffery.
The assessment identified several key priorities:
- Replacement of worn seat fabric across both fixed and loose seating
- Targeted foam replacement to restore comfort and support
- Upgrade of aisle ends and seat numbering systems
- Recommendation for spare arms and protective covers to support long-term
The Solution
Rather than a full seating replacement, a refurbishment approach was implemented to maximise value and sustainability. Mark has acquired an extensive assessment ability from 30 years experience, and in this particular circumstance, he was able to recognise that this Camatic Clarity seating range was still viable. The range was previously Australian made with very good quality seating mechanisms that were still fully functioning for at least 15 years plus.
Key works included:
- Sourcing and reupholstering all seating in a neutral-toned fabric to maintain the auditorium’s aesthetic, in consultation with the client
- Replacing selected foam components to improve comfort and longevity
- Upgrading aisle end finishes and numbering for improved usability and appearance

The completed project delivered a revitalised auditorium environment without the cost of full replacement.
